Mixing it Up

Hey there lovely GSpot.Own.It readers,
I am sooooo excited to be blogging again after my mini hiatus!!!
For the past couple of weeks I have been buried under my books, counting down the days until my last midterm! Ughhhhhh!!!! Thank baby Jesus it was Wednesday! I tap-danced all the way from class when it was over! lol.
But seriously, it feels so good to be back with my baby GSpot and you gorgeous folks!

While I was gone, I had the honor of doing a Colabo photo-shoot with the dapper dons of Avid Courtesy League (ACL) and Fashion Through Your Eyes (F.T.Y.E.). This project was quite the experience, I had an absolute ball working with these guys. Jean Marc, Carl and myself met Hanif and Brett at Fashion Night Out, and it was awesome being able meet some of the other members of the team. Each one of the guys has exceptional style, and they are really great guys all around. As usual it was great working with my homeboys from Fashion Through Your Eyes. Jean Marc, Carl and I have grown a lot closer since we started our blogs; we share our passion, different styles, and ideas all the time, and its great always having people around who love this game just as much as I do...

ACL did the photography for the shoot, but here's a peek of what was going down behind the scenes...

Brett of ACL

 Lavan of ACL

 Jean Marc of F.T.Y.E.

Hanif of ACL

Carl of F.T.Y.E.

Behind the Scenes

Carl took most of these shots, and they are pretty amazing to be behind the scenes shots!

We couldn't ask for a more beautiful day!

JoeV showing off his photography skills! He had some great ideas for shots of me!!!

Photo creds go to my friend Asia for the next few shots...

velvet stones

This late 80s/ early 90s inspired look is def one of my favs because there is OD texture in these pieces. These velvet booties and pants look like they are straight out of "Waiting to Exhale"; and I'm not sure if you guys can see it clearly but the top I'm wearing is 3D! Yessss its looks like a shirt made with a bunch of flowers!

When I go for looks that are solely inspired by another fashion era I tots feel like I'm in costume. And for someone who gets bored with things as quick as I do, being able to dress up as someone else for a day really tickles my fancy!

Even though the pieces from this look are all inspired from just about the same era in, they would look just as good or better if mixed into another trend or era, I will be doing plenty of mixing with these pieces so  look out for the funky combos i have in store for these jammies.

Gspot Styles

Just because fall is technically "here" it doesn't mean that all open toed shoes have to be packed into storage for the winter. As a matter of fact, keep them out! There is always room for a peep-toed bootie, and a platformed sandal in the fall. On the nicer days you can wear the peep-toes with your fav fall polish and on the more frigged days you can wear your fav platformed sandals with a pair of contrasting trouser, knee-high or over the knee socks.

Also don't be afraid to mix patterns. Play with it a little and you would be surprised with the funky new pattern combos you can create from your wardrobe.

This is one of my fav tops, it was made by my friend Amina. She's a very talented designer and the Creator of Yanghi.

Check out some of her more current pieces here

LOVE YALL!
