Kinks n Drinks

Hey, good people! I hope everyone's weekend is going well so far. This past Thursday, I had the honor of attending my first natural hair meet-up, which was hosted by Tribe Called Curl. The event was held at Therapy Wine Bar on Lewis St. in Brooklyn. This place was black owned and filled with good vibes, I will definitely be back to check them out.

I know I have been away from you guys for a bit, but I very recently joined the team of the award winning Natural Hair Blog and social community, Tribe Called Curl.  Tribe Called Curl is the ultimate destination for culture, community, and fabulous hair for savvy women of color. Go check out the site and join the tribe --->>> http://tribecalledcurl.com with our site as well as our facebook page, twitter, and Instagram

The event was sponsored by Shea Moisture and Karen's Body Beautiful and they hooked all of the lovely Guests up with these hefty gift bags stuffed with full sized products, and let me tell you the stuff was good!

The therapy crew was throwing it down in the kitchen.
Tribe team member, Joy and Shea Moisture natural hair expert, Diane Bailey.
Karen Tippin, the creator of "Karen's Body Beautiful" told us her story and inspired us all with her genuine spirit. You can find her products at select Targets and on her site
Met this lovely sistah Monique. She's such a beauty inside and out!

Lovely Natural and Transitioning Sistahs.

Diane Bailey of Shea Moisture gave us the expert low down on hair health; she blessed us with some good info.
Imani Dawson, Founder of Tribe Called Curl. Love that smile.

Style File: The Best Man Holiday

I don't know about you guys, but I'm extra pressed to see "The Best Man Holiday" this weekend. I've anticipated this movie since I saw Shelby and Quentin waking up in bed together after the wedding. If you know me, you know I love myself a black love flick. Not only am I a hopeless romantic and a sucker for black love, but I also love 90s fashion. One of my favorite things about watching black movies or sitcoms is the fashion. I can sit and watch Denise Huxtable, Whitley, Freddie, Jaleesa, Max, and Regine all day admiring how fly their costumes are. I hardly ever watch tv nowdays, but If I do you'll catch me watching "A Different World", "The Cosby Show", "Living Single" or some of my fav black love movies like "Love Jones", "Waiting to Exhale" and of course, "The Best Man".

I'm a 90's baby,  so I will probably always love 90s fashion but I'm a lover of all things stylish and one of the things I love the most about the sequel to "The Best Man" is the visual elevation they have given us of each character through their costumes and hair. Jordan got herself a weave and is giving us sassy corporate style; Candy traded in her fishnet stockings and hooker boots for some opaque tights and mary-janes; and Shelby's sassy tail got her hands on Tamar Braxton's wig, Robin copped herself some cute maternity gear and Murch cut the locks and got into some texture coordinating... I ain't mad. Q was pretty sharp in "The Best Man" but he really seems to be showing out in Holiday with this new hair, silks, leather, furs n top-hats; the funny thing is that it looks like he got his pieces for his wardrobe out of his personal closet at home.

I know yall like, "but the movie didn't even come out yet :/ " lol. I guess I should hold up before I decide which if I like their original looks or their new looks better. Nonetheless, I can not wait to see what they have going on in this film.

 Candy's blazer is good. Classic.
Harper and Robin are still as cute as ever together, Harper grew a beard, and I likes it.

Not really feeling the red lip on J. She's a nude gal.
Q is wearin that collar
Loving the bow in the back on Jordan.
Nude for Jordan, Red for Shelby...much better.

They sure were coordinatin these colors…I still ain’t mad.

A lace cami, and burgundy nails as corporate attire? Go head on, J.
That rip was cut to perfection.

The guys all got new doo's... which do you prefer?
Thank God Harper cut that hair off and bought some hats for Holiday bc that hairline sliding back each scene.

Robin's hair didn't change much, but it was already good.

Of course we prefer Jordan's hair short...
Locs or no locs for Murch?
I'm determined to find a coat that resembles this beauty that Robin wore in this scene!

What do you guys think? Do you like their new looks? You think you'll prefer the wardrobe in "The Best Man Holiday"or the original? Leave your thoughts in the comment box.

Based on the previews it seems as if Director Malcolm D. Lee did his thing once again...It will be in theaters Friday so make sure you go check it out this weekend.

50 told me "Go head switch ya style up"

Hey yall! Im so sorry about neglecting you guys, but daddy's home now. I could list a million and a half reasons why I have been a dead-beat blogger for the past 6 months, but I'll spare you guys. All that really matters is that I'm blogging again.

As I'm sure you can tell there have been some changes made to the blog...For starters "Gspot.Own.It." its now "Warehouse 55". Let's be real guys...it was time.

In the time that I was away from your pretty little faces I did a lot of reflecting and whatnot, and I don't know if this is just a phase or not, but I'm pretty much over wearing makeup and weave n stuff. In the past 3 months I snatched my wig off, shaved my head, and got rid of half of my makeup, and I can't remember the last time I painted my nails...hell, I haven't plucked my eyebrows in 2 months. So, yea... in 2013 I'm probably considered a cave woman, but as a friend of mine would say, "I like me."... Now don't get me wrong I'm not saying that their's anything wrong with all the makeup, weaves, wigs, mani's, pedi's, sugar, and spice, n everything nice...I honestly just ain't got time. I can't keep up with yall n Beyonce so imma just do me and admire yall.

With that said Warehouse 55 is going to be a little less focused on me and my look of the day and more focused on the world through my lens. Warehouse 55 will be your go-to site for all things style with a little hair and beauty on the side.  I don't want to do too much talking about what you can expect from Warehouse 55. I'd much rather just show you, so stay tuned.

P.S. I haven't been blogging or youtubing because those are the most time consuming forms of interacting with you guys but I have been present on instagram, twitter, and fb so make sure you're following me on those joints... IG: @warehousefityfive twitter: @warehouse55 , Facebook: Gabby Pressley also you can email me at warehousefiftyfive@gmail.com for any inquiries.

Peace,
G.
